GETTING TO KNOW
Marco Ugarte’s culinary career began early on in his home state of Florida, where he began working his way through various positions in the kitchens around his hometown. He made his way to West Palm Beach to attend The Florida Culinary Institute and after graduation, Ugarte sought opportunities to further develop his own creativity.
Ugarte’s culinary repertoire began with an offer at Edelweiss Lodge and Resort in Bavaria, Germany. This relocation was significant for Ugarte’s career as it created not only immense experiences in learning both in the culinary and operational workings of a major resort, but the invaluable knowledge of travel. Eight years later, Ugarte worked his way up starting as saucier, production chef, banquet chef, and eventually Sous Chef.

After 25 years of experience and travel , Ugarte now resides in Denver, CO with his beautiful family. He currently runs the cuisine at Elway's Downtown inside The Ritz-Carlton, Denver; for over 5 years as “Chef de Cuisine” where he has received many accolades and created exquisite and unforgettable dining experiences. Ugarte was also honored with the opportunity to cook at the renowned James Beard house in New York City. During his time in Europe, Marco traveled to over 15 countries immersing himself into the cultures of each city or country he visited. Not to mention his Peruvian roots have landed him in South America on many occasions, expanding even further his worldly palate.
