Smoked White Sangria

Smoked White Sangria

This recipe was created with 7Cellars The Farm Collection Chardonnay by Adam McKenzie known as @ThisJewCanQue

Ingredients:

  • Canola oil for brushing
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 3 oranges, cut in half
  • 3 lemons, cut in half
  • 3 limes, cut in half
  • 2 peaches, cut in half and pitted
  • 1 cup strawberries, sliced
  • 4 sprigs of fresh mint
  • One 750ml bottle of 7Cellars The Farm Collection Chardonnay, chilled (chill an extra bottle to refill as you enjoy)
  • ¼ cup Grand Marnier
  • 2 cups soda water
  • Ice

Directions:

Preheat your Traeger Grill to 180*. In a grill-proof pan or dish, combine the 7Cellars Chardonnay and Grand Marnier with 1 tbsp of white sugar. Stir to combine and place the dish inside the smoking grill.

Smoke the wine mixture for 30 minutes, then transfer the dish to the fridge to cool.

Increase the grill temperature to 375*. Allow to heat for about 10 minutes while you prepare the fruit.

When the grill is hot, brush the cut sides of the citrus and peaches with a little bit of canola oil and then dip gently in white sugar.

Place cut-side down on the grill grates, and close the lid. Allow to cook for 5 minutes before checking. You want the fruit to turn golden brown and caramelized. Remove from the grill and transfer to a cutting board to cool briefly. Then slice the fruit in wedges.

In a large pitcher, combine the sliced strawberries and the mint sprigs. Using a wooden spoon, stir to combine and gently macerate the strawberries. Then add the sliced grilled fruit.

Pour in the chilled 7Cellars Chardonnay and the Grand Marnier. Stir to combine. Add about 2 cups of ice to the pitcher and then add the soda water. Stir and serve immediately.
